Myrrh Extract (Commiphora Myrrha)
Myrrh and incense mixture with a harmonizing effect on body and soul.
Its the resin of a medium-sized prickly shrub called Commiphora Myrrha which grows on the west coast of Arabia and on the sea coasts of Yemen, Oman, Egypt, Sudan and inland Somalia.
The Latin name is: Commiphora Myrrha. The ancient Egyptian name is Bol / Bola. In Sanskrit, myrrh means vola and in Persian and Indian it means Heera-bol, Bol, Bola.
The gum resin is strongly aromatic and has a bitter taste. Its name comes from the ancient word „mur“, which means bitter.
It is no coincidence that the Wise Men from the East who traveled to Bethlehem 2,000 years ago gave the newborn Jesus myrrh. It was one of the most popular and valuable trade commodities of that time.
Myrrh has an antiseptic and astringent effect, and the Egyptians from the time of the Pharaohs already knew this, adding it to embalming ointments. Ancient myrrh healers also applied wounds to their patients. Numerous writings prove that myrrh was also used internally.
Folk medicine recommends myrrh for intestinal problems, cough and wound healing.
