Curcuminoids are a vast family of active, fat soluble compounds within turmeric. That means that only with an intake of oils curcuminoids can be resorbed through the human body. Curcumin is the main active ingredient of this Indian spice. It gives the spice its aroma and its intense yellow-orange color. The quality criterion of the turmeric root is the curcumin content, whose concentration, contained within the root, varies from 2 to 8% depending on the quality.
